The line-item budget book

Every item,
not just the total.

Snap a receipt and PodKitty reads every line — what you bought, what it cost, and how that price is moving. The part of your spending a card statement never sees.

Why line items

Your card sees one number. Your receipt knows the rest.

Bank feeds stop at the merchant and the total. PodKitty keeps what was actually in the bag — so your budget can tell eggs from paper towels.

How it works

From paper to ledger in three steps.

  1. 01

    Capture

Scan with the document camera — long receipts stitch across pages — pick a photo, or type it in. On Plus, forward email receipts to your private address.

  2. 02

    Review

PodKitty reads each line, sorts it into a category, and catches duplicates and coupons. Fix anything in a tap before it's saved.

  3. 03

    Understand

Watch prices item by item, keep budgets on pace, and find out where the same things cost less.

Shared ledgers

Share categories, keep the rest.

Run a household ledger together without handing over everything. You choose, category by category, what the group can see.

  • New members start by sharing nothing.
  • Narrowing is instant; widening always asks you first.
  • Group budgets and group insights, built only from what's shared.

Privacy

Private by design.

A ledger holds a lot about your life. PodKitty collects what the ledger needs and nothing it doesn't.

Encrypted upload, then deleted

Receipt photos travel over an encrypted connection and are deleted automatically once they've been read. Your ledger keeps the items, not the picture.

No passwords to leak

Sign in with Apple, Google, a passkey, or a one-time email code — and add an authenticator app if you like.

Your data is never sold

No sale of personal data. Anonymized item and price statistics are used only if you opt in — never your identity — and you can opt out anytime.

Yours to take or delete

Export your receipts and line items as JSON, or delete your account from Settings whenever you want.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

When can I get PodKitty?
PodKitty is in beta now and launching on the App Store soon, starting in the United States. We'll update this page the day it's live.
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone and iPad on iOS 26 or later, and Macs with Apple silicon. Home Screen widgets show your budget and upcoming charges.
Do I have to connect my bank?
No. PodKitty works entirely from receipts you scan, forward or type in. Bank and card sync is an optional Plus feature — read-only — that matches each card transaction to its receipt.
What happens to my receipt photos?
Photos are uploaded over an encrypted connection, read to extract the line items, and then deleted automatically. Your ledger keeps the items, not the picture. The Privacy Policy has the details.
Do you sell my data?
No. We don't sell personal data. If you opt in, anonymized item-and-price statistics — never your identity — power community price comparisons. You can switch this off in Settings anytime.
Can people in my group see all my spending?
No. Group members see only the categories you switch on. New members start by sharing nothing, and widening what you share always asks you first.
Which receipts and currencies work?
PodKitty reads printed and emailed receipts from stores of all kinds — long receipts can be scanned in several pages. Amounts are in US dollars for now.
How do I cancel Plus or delete my account?
Plus is billed by Apple, so you manage or cancel it in your App Store subscriptions. To leave for good, export your data as JSON and delete your account from Settings → Privacy & data.
How do I reach you?
Email [email protected], or send feedback from Settings → Support in the app.

Your receipts have more to say.
